HOMESTEAD STARTUP - Blank Canvas Waiting For Inspiration

5 Acres of Cleared Farmland

CORE TASKS

1. LANDSCAPING- Clearing, mowing, leveling ground, planting and initial garden bed preparation. Pathways, stonework, Patio, Decks, etc.

2. BUILDING/HANDYMAN WORK- Assisting with outbuildings, fencing and construction projects (we will be adding container trailers and Quonset structure and will need finishing work such as painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, etc.)

3. SKILLS- We are looking for a person(s) who are skilled with power tools, and gardening. Preference given to person with large equipment training.

ACCOMODATIONS & THE DEAL

1. The Space- In exchange for 20-25 hours of work per week on average, you will have a private room with TV and private bathroom in the new modular house. We will share kitchen and common area. If you have an RV or tiny home and would prefer to live in it, there is appropriate hook ups independent of the house and you are welcome to park it on the farm.

2. Trial Period- We require a 2 day trial period to ensure our work styles and personalities are a good fit.

3. Ideally we are looking to find someone who can stay for a minimum of 1 week but longer if all the stars align.

4. Dependability is Key- We are looking for people who value their word and their work.

My brother and I have a beautiful, quiet 5-acre property in Johnstown NY, that we are transforming into a working homestead. We have put a modular house on the property and a shed but other than that it is "blank canvas" of cleared farmland. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who loves the "pioneer" stage of a project. We aren't just maintaining a garden, we are designing and building the foundation of a sanctuary. We are looking for a reliable, dependable, and physically capable people (students) who take pride in their work.
